Spanish Mustang Council
From : callie heacock

greetings, the Spanish Mustang Council is seeking a small number of vendors of fine cafts and jewelry for the Indian Horse Camp in Bellville, Texas, May 2, 2009. jewelry must be certified as authentic American Indian by the vendor. there will be a trail drive and parade in the a.m, a program about the horses with indian riding demonstrations and sales booths until dark, and the event is sponsored by the Bellville Chamber of Commerce. there will be no vendors' fees charged any vendor associated with the Horse Camp. (the horses are Cherokee, Choctaw, Comanche and Plains indian bloodlines, all registered), and the American Indian Horse Registry will conduct the program, so this is no white-eyes wannabe deal. please contact me at:
ambrose@industryinet.com if you would like to join us. thank you.

Native News Going On Now and not Just In The States
My friend LeslyWaking Bear reported this on Multiply.com.
All the urls are in this report to check anything out...
I will post any more news as I get it.

Greetings Family,
You know, this is not a local (United States) problem.
I have been living with, and doing humanitarian work with the Wixatika Indians in Central Mexico, and from Guatamala to South America and all, there are over a thousand multinational mining consortiums that are presently stealing the traditional lands of the indigenous peoples for several years now. Weather it is the minerals, the petroluem or the water, the plunder of the Americas is just beginning. for info on the genecide go to www.upsidedownworld .org. Presently I am educating the all to trusting people about the dangers. Keep up the good work, Truth and Freedem are relations, you know!

Harvey Arden, Author, Supporter of Native Indians
Harvey's biography Author/Editor of Wisdomkeepers: Meetings with Native American Spiritual Elders Dreamkeepers: A Spirit-Journey into Aboriginal Australia Noble Red Man: Lakota Wisdomkeeper Mathew King Travels in a Stone Canoe: The Return to the Wisdomkeepers Prison Writings: My Life is My Sun Dance by Leonard Peltier Have You Thought of Leonard Peltier Lately? White Buffalo Teachings by Arvol Looking Horse Over the past few years I have given readings/lectures on the Dreamkeepers and the Wisdomkeepers at Harvard, Columbia, CalTech, USC, the University of South Dakota (Vermillion), Briarcliffe College (Sioux City, IA), etc etc etc I've given readings from Leonard Peltier’s PRISON WRITINGS: MY LIFE IS MY SUN DANCE and Mathew King’s book NOBLE RED MAN to audiences in schools, churches, museums, private homes, coffee shops, public auditoriums and theaters in New York, Toronto, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Boston, New Orleans, Washington DC, Cape Cod, Western Massachusetts, New Hampshire etc.and scores of smaller towns. I've also given scores of readings at Borders and Barnes & Noble (and many, many other) bookstores across the country; I've been interviewed on NPR (national "Public Interest" show, twice), also on many many other radio stations. I was for 23 years a staff writer at National Geographic Magazine. A play of mine on Leonard Peltier, already performed at USD, is in the early stages of a professional production. My books have been translated into French, Spanish, German, Italian, Dutch, Swedish, and Japanese...with Greek and Swedish in the works. Anyway, I'm willing to put my old body on the line anytime it's needed for the Cause, but I can often be of more of use here at my basement-study PC, since I plug into lots of places in the Indian and international indigenous worlds, though I'm a white guy myself. Lot's of people know me and, hopefully, trust me. You can check me out ad nauseum with a Google search on my name. (someone told me a few weeks or so ago she found 22,000 entries on me with a few simple searches) I still spend lots of time working for and with Leonard Peltier. I ‘ve visited Leonard half a dozen times at Leavenworth. Also I have a few novels, plays, screenplays and other nonfiction books that I'm trying to give birth to lest they be, alas, stillborn. Like Mat King used to say, "You're not too bad for a white guy, Harvey. You're lucky. Tunkashila has a job for you to do and you're going to do it!" Regarding why I, a white guy, am so involved in the indigenous world, I subscribe to the philosophy expressed in this statement by Australian Aboriginal Elder Lilla Watson: "If you've come here to help me, you're wasting your time. But if you've come because your liberation is bound up with mine, then let us work together." If you would like to contact Harvey, the best way to do so is by email. Feds, Eagle Feathers, Raids
Message repost from EVA Littlebird:
Aho! My relatives, I am sending this email out to personal frens and family members. You may forward to others in your contacts. All that I am requesting that you delete all addresses before forwarding because some of us feel that the Feds/Others are tracking emails about this subject.
My name is Eva Littlebird, I am of Northern Paiute and the Arapaho Tribes, both Federally recognized tribes. I am a NAC member of local Nevada Chapters, I reside now in Minneapolis, Minnesota. I know some of the individuals that have been raided for feathers and some of these people have basically NARKED. I say narked out other people who make our beautiful prayer fans is that my uncle was among one of those people who have been questioned. Right now, the Feds are targeting NEVADA because one of the Roadman that was recently arrested told agents that most of his feathers (Eagle tails, centers, plumes, Hawk tails) have come out of NEVADA. This individual also informed agents that in certain parts of the west, Native American Church Ceremonies were being held and Roadmen do not have affiliation with NAICA. The reservations that were mentioned were Owyhee, Ft. McDermitt, Schurz, Fallon, Carson City, Nixon, Wadsworth all in Nevada. Fort Hall, Idaho was also mentioned. Relatives, i!
f there are people out of the ordinary looking for meetings or wanting to know information please watch yourselves, out of protection for your entire family members. The Sundances were also mentioned and that Feathers were being traded or sold to certain individuals who also gave agents of names of guys that have given up feathers. Another, suggestion, is to have a church card so that if a NAC meeting is raided on these reservations you may have an easier way out. I say this because my brothers all hold Nevada Charter cards which I found have no validity and are no good if you are stopped by any police officer with your instruments on your person let alone some peyote. Be careful and pass this information to all Roadman who conduct services on these reservations and all fan makers.
Here is some helpful information if anyone has already been raided or violated.

Freedom and Jeff

Freedom and I have been together 10 years this summer. She came in as
a baby in 1998 with two broken wings. Her left wing doesn't open all
the way even after surgery, it was broken in 4 places. She's my baby.

Man Wolf making flutes again!
manwolf1.jpg Man Wolf Strayhorn, traditional Cherokee flute maker, has been on a sabbatical from his art work.  After fifteen years of seven days a week, he really needed a rest!  His passion for the instrument, and music could not keep him off the scene for ever, and he is back, and taking custom orders.  During his absence from the world of flute making, he has developed his own style of wood flutes.  Incorporating the ancient measurements and traditions of the Cherokee cane flutes into the construction and style of the wood flute, his flutes are really unique and one of a kind; a real collectors item.

" I really missed seeing the joy in a persons face the first time they play the flute that has been tuned by their own body measurements.  Many times, this is the first instrument they have ever played, and they are awestruck that they can actually play it at all."

Man Wolf says he has a new CD planed for later this year or early next year.  To view Man Wolfs pages on the Cherokee flutes and his music, click the link on the left panel for Man Wolfs Flutes.  To see the Texas Country Reporter television show segment, click on the Man Wolf on TV link.  He will be updating his pages often as new products and photos require.

See his work at Man Wolfs Flutes.
